Primarily, in the striatum brain region is where methamphetamine-induced damage to nerve terminals of dopamine-producing cells occurs. In mice, different types of nerve cells in the frontal cortex, the hippocampus and the striatum were killed off by methamphetamine-induced apoptosis.
